CAEM Professionals at WorkCAEM provides the following code of conduct which our professional members abide by in the production of trade and consumer shows, and similar sized events.

Exposition Management Code of Professional Conduct

Exposition Members shall:

  1. Conduct all expositions under our management, according to the highest ethical standards, maintaining equitable rules, regulations and contracts.
  2. Provide appropriate and responsible information about our expositions. 
  3. Provide attendance promotion to maximize event results. 
  4. Communicate fully and promptly with exhibitors, contractors, exhibit builders and prospective clients about our rules, regulations and contractual information. 
  5. Provide disclosure of relevant contract terms that would be beneficial to the interests of the parties involved. Honour all contractual commitments, avoiding cancellations of space or show unless for good and proper cause. 
  6. Endeavour to honour all contractual commitments with each facility. This may include the use of exclusive contractors for certain services required by show management and by exhibitors. In other cases, we have the right to designate official contractors. Require written notification from exhibitors using other than the official contractor in advance of move-in. Require other than official service contractors to provide exposition management with a certificate of insurance and a written acceptance of the exposition rules. 
  7. Provide proper admission credentials to service contractors and others having a valid reason for being on the exhibit floor. 
  8. Mediate promptly all jurisdictional disputes involving expositions under our management. 
  9. Maintain and monitor reasonable show security and safety procedures, recognizing that the total exposition security/safety system requires the co-operation of all the parties involved with the exposition, the facility in which it is held, and the local authorities. 
  10. Further the purpose of the Canadian Association of Exposition Management by assisting the advancement of Exposition Management through educational and informational programs and the dissemination of information.
Associate Code of Professional Conduct

Associate Members shall:

  1. Conduct all work under our management, according to the highest ethical standards, maintaining equitable rules, regulations and contracts.
  2. Provide appropriate, responsible information about our services and products.
  3. Endeavour to maximize event results. 
  4. Communicate fully and promptly with exposition management, exhibitors, contractors, exhibit builders and prospective clients about our rules, regulations and contractual information. 
  5. Provide disclosure and/or clarification of relevant contract terms that would be beneficial to the interests of the parties involved. Honour all contractual commitments. 
  6. Endeavour to honour all rules and regulations of each facility. 
  7. Ensure all employees display proper admission credentials to gain admittance to facilities and have a valid reason for being on the exhibit floor.
  8. Mediate promptly all jurisdictional disputes involving services and products under our management. 
  9. Respect show security, maintain and monitor reasonable life and worker safety procedures, recognizing that the total exposition security/safety system requires the co-operation of all the parties involved with the exposition, the facility in which it is held, and the local authorities.
  10. Further the purpose of the Canadian Association of Exposition Management by assisting the advancement of Exposition Management through educational and informational programs and the dissemination of information.
